4×4 off-road route from Cangas de Onis and the route of Cares

If you are staying in Cangas de Onis and want to do the route of the Cares this is the best option. We will take care of a 4×4 route from Cangas de Onis to Cain. We make stops to visit many places of tourist interest in the National Park of the Picos de Europa. The off-road vehicle is driven by an experienced local guide who knows the area of the Picos de Europa. The guide who drives the jeep will be talking in the car and at the planned stops and will be commenting on stories and anecdotes of the area to know and learn more about our area.

We pick you up in our 4×4 at around 9:45 am in Cangas de Onís, in summer by advance online reservation. From October onwards we advance the departures during autumn, winter and part of spring, due to the reduction of sun hours.

We continue the route in 4×4 towards the province of León by the N-625, better known as the Beyos Gorge, probably the largest gorge in northern Spain. We will visit the salmon farm where salmon fry are raised for release.

We will follow the route along the course of the Sella River in reverse, to know the old pass that linked Asturias with the plateau. Once in León we will enter the Sajambre Valley. We will go up to Soto de Sajambre to visit the village, with a high ethnographic value.

We will take the road to a viewpoint located at 1300 meters above sea level. From there we will descend back to Oseja de Sajambre, making a brief stop there to visit this place.

We will make a new mountain pass with another great viewpoint, you will see where the Sella River is born and the mountain passes “Pontón” and “Panderruedas“, the best place to see the highest Peaks of the Picos de Europa. Then we continue to Posada de Valdeón and Cain, but before arriving, we visit the “Chorco de los lobos”, a trap to hunt wolves, from the XVII century.

After some explanations about the Cares Route, we will leave you time for lunch, lunch is on your own and to walk the route from Cain to Poncebos.

From 19:00-19:15 hours, we will pick you up in Poncebos where you have finished the route of the Cares. We will pass through Arenas de Cabrales, to go towards Cangas de Onis, where the activity will end in 4×4 off-road vehicle to the Cares Route from Cain to Poncebos.
